To be a Christian is to be a follower of Christ - a disciple. Growing as a disciple is the process by which we not only gain knowledge of God and ourselves, but also apply it to our life. We cannot say we truly know the Gospel until we live it out.

Discipleship is growing in our conformity to the image of Christ. Spiritual maturity is our life (thoughts, words & actions) increasingly shaped by God-centered thinking & practice.

Discipleship is demonstrated by loving God and loving neighbor. It recognizes that we are not alone. We are united to Christ; part of His body, and part of one another. Discipleship, therefore, is meant to take place within the community of the church, a local manifestation of His body. It grounds us in His Word and protects us from the false belief systems surrounding us. It helps us to follow God’s interpretation of ourselves, each other and the rest of the world in which we live. Discipleship is God’s wisdom for living.
